- The joint decision by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the HHS on Friday is to extend the relaxed regulations on telehealth prescriptions of controlled drugs until 2024. This marks the second time the flexible guidelines, which include prescription medications for opioid disorders or ADHD stimulants, have been extended. These guidelines allow professionals to prescribe these medications without a prior in-person consultation. They intend to ensure a seamless shift for both patients and doctors who have grown dependent on telemedicine for these prescriptions. This period also gives providers sufficient time to adjust to any forthcoming standards. By the autumn of 2024, the DEA aims to establish new regulations. Read more.
