NEWS 📌

• The European Parliament has approved the European Health Data Space (EHDS), allowing for easier access and sharing of healthcare data across the EU. Two platforms, My Health EU for citizens and Health Data EU for healthcare professionals, will facilitate this. The EHDS aims to improve healthcare delivery by enabling quicker and safer data transfer, such as prescriptions and lab results. It also supports individual rights to control their health data and promotes its use for research and development of new treatments. This initiative aligns with Europe's digitalization goals for 2030. Read More  
• The World Health Organization (WHO), Geneva Digital Health Hub (gdhub), World Trade Organization (WTO) and The World Bank have jointly released a preliminary draft report managing policy considerations for cross-border telehealth practices. This collaborative effort seeks to explore the evolving landscape where technology, healthcare and globalization intersect, recognizing the growing significance of cross-border telehealth in providing medical services worldwide. • The WHO Regional Office for Europe released a set of digital health country profiles sourced from their 2022 Digital Health Survey. These profiles categorize data into seven themes, from digital health foundations to big data and advanced analytics for health. The report offers key findings and detailed country profiles. • The European Commission's HERA and the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU launched the Critical Medicines Alliance to address shortages and safety issues of medicines in Europe. With around 250 registered members, the Alliance will focus on improving supply security and availability and reducing dependency on external suppliers. It plans to develop strategic recommendations, including pipeline investment projects and market incentives and foster partnerships to diversify the supply chain. Read More 
• The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is launching 'Home as a Health Care Hub,' an AR/VR initiative focused on improving healthcare equity and delivery within home settings. The goal is to create user-friendly solutions for different living situations, focusing on helping underserved communities. • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a new Public Health Data Strategy for 2024-2025 to improve data sharing between healthcare and public health organizations.
