- The World Health Organization (WHO) published a project report, titled ‘Addressing Health Determinants in a Digital Age: Project Report,’ focusing on the impact of digital transformation on traditional social, political, commercial and economic determinants of health. This report emphasizes the need for equitable digital transformations, robust digital public infrastructure and inclusive health and social care policies. It states that digital technologies should be designed in collaboration with end users for patient empowerment and active participation of patients in health management. Read More
- The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) released a landmark report, titled ‘AI Adoption in Healthcare Report 2024,’ explaining the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) in medical organizations and the future of AI adoption in the industry. This report involves a survey and the survey results demonstrates that many medical organizations utilize AI for administrative tasks such as transcribing patient notes and business meetings, reviewing patients’ electronic health records (EHRs) and analyzing medical literature and data. - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) launched a new Global Strategy, aiming to improve global health, promote equity and increase health security. This strategy underscores that innovative research and technological developments like AI generate new solutions to current and emerging health problems and improve the efficiency of healthcare systems. - The National Health Service (NHS) started to use AI for identifying patients who are potential users of emergency services. This initiative aims to offer necessary support earlier and reduce demand and pressure on accident and emergency (A&E) departments. The NHS is supporting more than 125 emergency departments across England with High Intensity Use (HIU) services which find the most regular visitors to A&E in their area and solve the reasons why they frequently visit the department by using the latest data.
