- The World Health Organization (WHO) published a handbook, ‘Digital Transformation Handbook for Primary Health Care,’ emphasizing that papers show limited data use with little to no interoperability standards while digital transformation completely changes healthcare settings. The handbook, mainly focusing on person-centered point of service systems (PCPOS), involves a roadmap showing the transformation from paper to digital. Additionally, the handbook mentions global standards like SMART Guidelines and HL7 FHIR for interoperability. Read More
- The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and Global Digital Health Partnership (GDHP) launched the OECD-GDHP Policy Repository Tool for digital health collaboration worldwide. This tool comprises 24 policy areas like analytic integrity and data quality to increase cross-border learning and determine best practices. It provides a heatmap of the policy coverage of GDHP member countries. These countries can use their own sheets for inputting and viewing their policy data. Thanks to the tool, the countries can assess digital health maturity, compare policies and detect gaps. Read More
- The World Health Organization (WHO) released Digital Transformation Handbook for Health Supply Chain Architecture, acting as a comprehensive guide for countries to transform their digital health supply chain (DHSC) systems. This handbook aims to help for the creation of interoperable, scalable and sustainable supply chains globally. While recommending the participation of all relevant parties like ministries, healthcare providers and donors, it highlights the integration with national digital health strategies, IT architectures and health system priorities. - The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) published ‘Artificial Intelligence and the Health Workforce’ paper that focuses on the challenges in the health workforce and AI’s contribution to the improvement of health outcomes. This paper includes a survey, comprising 17 respondents from national medical associations, which demonstrates the common belief that AI enables healthcare professionals to focus more on patient-centered care by streamlining administrative tasks.
